I want the world to know that my Dad was here........that he lived, he walked among us, he left his own trail, and we who had my Dad in our lives are blessed.

Formerly of Oshawa, JIM CROWELLS
passed away in Perth, ON on Tuesday June 6, 2006. Jim's wishes of cremation were carried out in Perth.
Interment was held in Oshawa on Tuesday August 22, 2006 followed by a Memorial at Kingside Park. Jim's life was celebrated and his memory honoured by those who cared to attend.
At least 100 people attended Jim's burial however less than a dozen were from the Crowells side. Friends, family, co-workers (of Dad's, Mom's, my brothers's & mine) and former employees attended---co-workers of mine who had never met my Dad, friends of my brother who had never met Dad were there for us. We know who counts and those are the people who attended. Thank you for being there for Mom, Randy, Laura, Cam & me.

Since he was a teenager Jim's calling was mechanical work; he entered the automotive parts industry in the early 60's beginning with Western Tire on King Street (by Oshawa Creek) where Tailgates now stands. Jim worked for the late John Kent. Prior to Western Tire Jim worked as a Taxi Driver (that's where he met Mom....she was one of his fares!) and he also worked at Whitby Jail for a period of time.

Still employed with Mr. Kent, Jim moved across the street to the B/A Service Station where he worked as a mechanic; shortly afterward Jim moved up to the King and Park location (now Teddy's) where he took possessin of the B/A station that eventually became known as Jim Crowells' Gulf.

Jim owned the Gulf station for many years, earning the Award for Excellence, and eventually sold and became a Parts Salesman for Pineridge Automotive, working outside the store as well as behind the counter.

Eventually Jim became known as the friendly face behind the counter at such places as McDonald Ford/Enterprise Ford/Fraser Ford (changed hands) then The Partsman where he retired from in 1992, moving to Perth, ON. For a man who had to quit school at the age of ten due to his father's passing, to go to work in order to help support his Mom and family, Jim came a long way and we are very, very proud of him.
